Jordi Garcés
Barcelona, 1945
Studied at the Advanced Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona in 1970.
During his studies he worked at the offices of Martorell-Bohigas-
Mackay and with Ricardo Bofill. He was Project Lecturer at the Eina School from 1971
to 1973, was Project Lecturer at the ETS Arquitectura de Barcelona in 1975.
He obtained a doctorate in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia
in 1987 and held the chair for Projects I in 1990. He was an assessor for the organisation of conferences and congresses for the Congress of the International Union of Architects in 1996.
Since 1999 he has been head of the Projects Department) and 10. He was guest lecturer and exterior expert during the 1995-1996 course at the Polytechnic School of Lausanne (Switzerland).
The following are the most significant works featured in important architectural publications and those which have been the subject of various conferences and exhibitions: the Barcelona Science Museum Building 1979-81; the
Barcelona Picasso Museum, 1981-1987; The Navarra Museum of Art in
Pamplona, 1986-1989; the Olympic Pavilion at La Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona
1989-1991, the Plaza Hotel in Barcelona, 1989-1992 and the Science Museum of Tenerife, 1989-1993. His most recent work includes; the extension of the Picasso Museum in 1999 and 2003, The Francisco Godia Foundation in 1999 and its new office building in 2009; the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona in 2000 and the Information Industries Foundation Building in Sabadell (Barcelona) in 2001.
He has received awards and nominations for his professional works, such as the FAD Architecture Award in 1991, the IAKS Bronze Category Award in 1995 and the 1996 Barcelona City Award for Architecture and Urban Construction.
